Our Commitment to Safety

At the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Billerica Child Safety is fundamental to our mission.

The Wellbeing of Young People is Our Number One Priority

The club’s goal is to create a safe, inclusive and fun environment so kids can have every opportunity to be successful in life. We have zero tolerance for inappropriate behavior of any kind, including child sexual abuse or misconduct.

Mandatory Background Checks

Mandatory criminal background checks for all staff are required before hire. In addition, criminal background checks are required for any volunteer who has direct contact with children. All candidates for employment and volunteers are also run through the National Sex Offender Register.

Mandatory Employee Reference

Any employee interested in moving to another Boys & Girls Club is required to have a reference from the previous Club, even if the Clubs are within the same community.

Required Immediate Reporting

Staff and volunteers at Boys and Girls Club of Greater Billerica are all mandated reporters and are required to report any critical incident/safety concern to local authorities immediately.

Safety Trainings

We recognize that ongoing training and supervision of staff and volunteers is critical. Both staff and volunteers participate in a wide variety of child safety training on a continuous basis, such as seminars, conference and webinars.

State and Local Laws

We comply with federal, state and local safety laws, including those impacting facilities and vehicles.

Review and Revision:

Our safety policies are reviewed annually to ensure their continued effectiveness and relevance.  Policies may be revised as necessary to reflect changes in regulations, industry standards, and organizational requirements.
